The Rev. Tony Bleything – Rector
My name is Fr. Tony Bleything. I’m the rector and church planter of our little community. Christ Redeemer Anglican Church has been a dream community for me in many ways. I’m so thankful to be part of a church that longs to be a visible part of a neighborhood. One that is as concerned about those who don’t come to our church as we are for those who do.
One of the things you will learn about me very soon after meeting me is that I am profoundly shaped by my identity as a recovering alcoholic/addict. This is God’s gift to me. It allows me to understand what shame, brokenness, and pain is like first hand. A desire for this community is to be a place where one can meet a Jesus who does not turn away the broken but comes alongside them.
Anglicanism has become the place where I can embrace the various streams that have shaped me over my life. A place to practice various forms of prayer and meditation as well as a place to plumb the depths of scripture, and a place to be refreshed and encouraged by weekly Eucharistic celebration. I hope you will find that Christ Redeemer Anglican Church is so much more than a Sunday service, it is an extended family on mission in Riverwest.
Ryan Boettcher – Pastor
Lutheran. Evangelical/Non-Denominational. Christian Reformed. And now Anglican. Though I have been in many church contexts, Christ Redeemer feels the most like home in more ways than one. I have been absolutely blessed to do the work of pastoral ministry in our church community and neighborhood. I grew up in the Milwaukee area, and have lived in Riverwest for several years. I have an unexplainable and unashamed love for our city and neighborhood.
I have been married to Bliss for 5 years, and we have a little guy (Thaddeus, 1yr) running around. Along with the church, we own our own design/website company (Lemmon Design). I am also going back to school to get a Masters of Community Psychology from Alverno College, so that I can be a counselor, along with my pastoral duties at Christ Redeemer.
Outside of church, work, school, marriage, and raising a child, I enjoy working with my hands and building things, reading, making pulled pork bbq, listening to music, and having people over for a meal.
Zach Pietrini – Music Director
I believe it was my freshman year of high school, I was sitting at a youth program at the church I grew up in and in a moment of clarity I thought “Gosh, I spend an incredible amount of time in this building, I owe it to myself to see if I actually believe what they are teaching.” This was the sentiment that has driven much of my journey sense. I want to dig into what I believe, to take nothing for granted, to experience the transformative love of Christ and encourage others to do the same.
I have been married for 6 years now to my wife Kaelee who is one of the most gracious, supportive and loving humans that exists. We have one daughter Ofelia Rose who loves Mulan and “being fancy.” I grew up in and around Chicago where I first started a music career as the front man of the Zach Pietrini Band, a project that has spanned three states, four albums and eight years.
I go hard on the dance floor, I love movies, books on tape, working out, writing and aged cheddar (which I didn’t know was a thing until moving up here). I long for rich community and love people.
